A flapper valve is a component of a two piece assembly, which is used to stop and allow the flow of fluid through an orifice or a hole.

Flapper valves are most commonly used in toilet flushing equipment for smooth channelization of water flow. The flapper valve works by lifting the stopper up when the flush handle is pressed and releasing the water into the bowl.

Flapper Valves

A check valve equipped with a spring-loaded plate or flapper is known as flapper valve. This kind of spring-loaded ball valve or other valve is immensely useful in more effective regulation of the flow of fluid. Flapper valves come in different shapes and sizes depending on the nature of application in any specific instance.

Some of the far more sophisticated versions of flapper valves with wide industrial applications are designed for optimum fluid loss protection by facilitating an easy movement of flapper material. These flapper valves are manufactured with toughened glass or ceramic materials capable of withstanding the high pressure differentials involved and efficient functioning of the equipment. Special double-flapper check valves are also employed as standard safety devices in CT operations in oil, gas and water wells. It has a number of benefits which include preventing the leakage of fluids in case of a pipe failure, unobstructed flow of fluids and gases, easy replacement of flapper valve inserts. Special O-ring seals are also used for pressure integrity in CT downhole operations.
